ConvergeSouth 2006 Press Credentials

The People Formerly Known as the Audience are ConvergeSouth

ConvergeSouth is unlike most conferences you have covered. In a hands-on leader-led method, this year's ConvergeSouth will bring practical tools to attendees. The former audience now becomes the group leaders. There is no 'lecture' at ConvergeSouth. Everyone joins in and discussion leaders will encourage everyone to participate.

This is new media.

For old media types, we have press credentials. Please read the following.

I. Press Credentials

How do I gain press credentials for ConvergeSouth?

To find out if you qualify for a ConvergeSouth Press Badge just contact us. Either send a fax request with contact information on the letterhead of your publication care of Sue Polinsky, Conference Administrator, to (336) 852-3604 or admin@convergesouth.com. Tell us what angle of conference you are thinking of covering.

When will I hear if my request for press credentials has been granted?

You will hear back from us either way within the business week if you email before Friday so be sure to send in those requests ASAP!

What else should I know about this process?

We grant press badges to members of the media who intend to cover the event. If your press credentials are granted, we ask that you send us a copy (either snail mail or email) of your coverage of ConvergeSouth.

I've heard great things about ConvergeSouth, but I'm having difficulty convincing my editor that my organization should send me to the event. Can you offer any help on this?

ConvergeSouth brings together the most creative and innovative minds in the new media world, particularly as related to creativity and new media. If your publication wants to cover tomorrow's trends in this industry today before they hit the mainstream, under no circumstances should you miss this event. Or contact Ed Cone for additional ammunition.

II. PICKING UP MY PRESS BADGE

I just received e-mail notification that I have been granted press credentials to ConvergeSouth. In terms of obtaining my badge, what happens next?

Now all you have to do is bring photo ID to NC A&T State University at the ConvergeSouth Center and collect your materials there. Badge pick-up for the 2006 ConvergeSouth will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006. We do not mail press badges.

III. THE EVENT ITSELF

What are the most interesting aspects of the conference to cover?

There are dozens of stories just waiting to be reported at ConvergeSouth. Part of your fun will be to decide which of these aspects are the best fit for your publication and its audience. Some recommendations are the Saturday "how-to" conference sessions, the NORGS meeting, and of course the conference's Saturday night downtown in Greensboro.

Is there is a "Press Room" at A&T?

We will use a computer lab this year that gives you Internet access. You're free to use it all day.

I would like to have some advance interviews with some of the top speakers at this year's event. What is the best way for me to contact these people?

For contact information, email Dr. Sue Polinsky (admin@convergesouth.com) with a list of people you would like to interview and she will try to get you in touch with them. The sooner you email, the easier it will be to coordinate. Interviews can be conducted via email, phone or other interactive means.

This is our second year. We're enjoying rewriting history.
